A Divina Misericórdia é uma devoção religiosa católica de origem polonesa, e cuja divulgação se deve a Santa Faustina Kowalska. Em seu Diário, Santa Faustina relata ter recebido instruções de Jesus, através de aparições, para que desse a conhecer ao Mundo a Sua Misericórdia. O processo de beatificação de Santa Faustina se iniciou por iniciativa do, então, Cardeal Arcebispo de Cracóvia, Karol Wojtila, e, posteriormente, foi canonizada pelo mesmo bispo, já enquanto Papa João Paulo II.

O Papa João Paulo II, em Maio de 2000, instituiu a Festa da Divina Misericórdia para toda a Igreja, decretando que a partir de então o segundo Domingo da Páscoa se passasse a chamar Domigo da Divina Misericórdia. Por meio desta apóstola da Misericórdia, a Irmã Faustina Kowalska, Jesus prometeu:

“Desejo que a Festa da Misericórdia seja refúgio e abrigo para todas as almas, especialmente para os pobres pecadores. Neste dia estão abertas as entranhas da Minha Misericórdia. Derramo todo um mar de graças sobre aquelas almas que se aproximam da fonte da Minha Misericórdia. A alma que for à confissão e receber a Sagrada Comunhão obterá remissão total das culpas e das penas. Nesse dia estão abertas todas as comportas divinas, pelas quais se derramam as graças. Que nenhuma alma receie vir a Mim, ainda que os seus pecados sejam tão vivos como escarlate...” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 699).

“Minha filha, declara que a Festa da Minha Misericórdia brotou das Minhas entranhas para consolação do Mundo inteiro.” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1517).

Com esta promessa de Jesus sobre os Sacramentos da Confissão e da Comunhão recebidas nesse dia, a todos nós passa a ser possível alcançar  uma indulgência plenária, como a que recebemos no batismo.

O Sacramento da Confissão

“Filha, quando vieres ao pé dessa fonte da Minha Misericórdia, que é a Santa Confissão, verte sempre na tua alma o Sangue e a Água que saíram do Meu Coração, e enobrece-a. De cada vez que te aproximares da Santa Confissão, mergulha toda na Minha Misericórdia com grande confiança, para que possa derramar na tua alma a abundância da Minha Graça. Quando vieres à Confissão, deves saber que sou Eu mesmo quem espera por ti no confessionário; oculto-Me no sacerdote, mas sou Eu próprio quem atua na alma. É aí que a miséria da alma se encontra com o deus da Misericórdia. Diz ainda às almas que dessa fonte da Misericórdia apenas colhem Graças com o vaso da confiança. E, se for grande a confiança delas, a Minha generosidade não terá limites. As torrentes da Minha Graça inundam as almas humildes. Os orgulhosos hão de permanecer na penúria e na miséria, porquanto a graça se afasta deles em direção aos humildes.” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1602).

“Diz ás almas onde devem procurar consolos, isto é, no Tribunal da Misericórdia, em que se dão os Meus maiores prodígios, que se renovam sem cessar. Para obter este prodígio não é necessário empreender longa peregrinação, nem realizar exteriormente grande cerimonial; basta aproximarem-se, com fé, dos pés do Meu representante e confessar-lhe a miséria própria: o milagre da Misericórdia de Deus manifestar-se-á em toda a plenitude. Ainda que a alma esteja em decomposição – como um cadáver, e ainda que humanamente já não haja possibilidade de restauração e tudo se encontre perdido, as coisas não são assim para Deus. A maravilha da Misericórdia de Deus fará ressurgir a alma para uma vida plena. Ó pobres, que não aproveitais esse milagre da Misericórdia de Deus! Clamareis em vão, pois então já será tarde demais!” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1448).

A Santa Comunhão

“Desejo unir-Me às almas humanas; a Minha delícia é unir-Me a elas. Sabe, Minha filha que quando venho pela Sagrada Comunhão ao coração do homem, tenho as mãos cheias de toda a espécie de graças e desejo entregá-las às almas, mas elas nem Me prestam atenção; deixam-Me sozinho e ocupam-se com outras coisas. Oh, quão triste fico por não reconhecerem o Amor!” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1385).

“Escreve para benefício das almas religiosas que a Minha delícia é vir aos seus corações na Sarada Comunhão.” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1683).

“Repara, abandonei o trono do Céu para Me unir a ti. Se o que estás a ver é apenas uma pequena parcela e a tua alma já desfalece de amor, então em que assombro ficará o teu coração, quando Me contemplares em toda a Glória? Porém quero dizer-te que essa vida eterna deve iniciar-se já aqui na Terra pela Sagrada Comunhão. Cada Comunhão torna-te mais capaz de conviver com Deus por toda a eternidade.” (Diário da Irmã Faustina, 1810).

Nono Dia

“Hoje traze-Me as almas tíbias e mergulha-as no abismo da minha Misericórdia. Estas almas ferem mais dolorosamente o meu Coração. Foi da alma tíbia que a minha Alma sentiu repugnância no Horto. Elas levaram-Me a dizer: Pai afasta de Mim este cálice, se assim for a vossa vontade. Para elas, a última tábua de salvação é recorrer a minha Misericórdia.”

Ó compassivo Jesus, que sois a própria Compaixão, trago à mansão do vosso compassivo Coração as almas tíbias; que se aqueçam no fogo do vosso amor puro estas almas geladas, que, semelhantes a cadáveres, Vos enchem de tanta repugnância. Ó Jesus, muito compassivo, usai a onipotência da vossa Misericórdia e atraí-as até ao fogo do vosso amor e concedei-lhes o amor santo, porque Vós tudo podeis.

Eterno Pai, olhai com Misericórdia para as almas tíbias e que estão encerradas no Coração compassivo de Jesus. Pai de Misericórdia, suplico-Vos pela amargura da Paixão do vosso Filho e por sua agonia de três horas na Cruz, permiti que também elas glorifiquem o abismo da vossa Misericórdia. Amém.

Ninth Day

“Today bring to Me the Souls who have become Lukewarm, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: ‘Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.’ For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy.”

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.

The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy

1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.

2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following:
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

Todas estas almas são muito amadas por Mim, pagam as dívidas à minha Justiça. Está em teu alcance trazer-lhes alívio. Tira do tesouro da minha Igreja todas as indulgências e oferece-as por elas. Oh, se conhecesses o seu tormento, incessantemente oferecerias por elas a esmolas do espírito e pagarias as suas dívidas à minha Justiça.”

Misericordiosíssimo Jesus, que dissestes que quereis misericórdia, eis que estou trazendo à mansão do vosso compassivo Coração as almas do Purgatório, almas que Vos são muito queridas e que no entanto devem dar reparação à vossa Justiça; que as torrentes de Sangue e Água que brotaram do vosso Coração apaguem as chamas do fogo do Purgatório, para que também ali seja glorificado o poder da vossa Misericórdia.

Eterno Pai, olhai com Misericórdia para as almas que sofrem no Purgatório e que estão encerradas no Coração compassivo de Jesus. Suplico-Vos que, pela dolorosa Paixão de Jesus, vosso Filho, e por toda a amargura de que estava inundada a sua Alma santíssima, mostreis vossa Misericórdia às almas que se encontram sob o olhar da vossa Justiça; não olheis para elas de outra forma senão através das Chagas de Jesus, vosso Filho muito amado, porque nós cremos que a vossa bondade e Misericórdia são incomensuráveis. Eighth Day

“Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.” 

Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.
